Between the early 19th century and 1945 there was a pulp mill here on the Pleiske (Pliszka in Polish). Parts of the historical complex and the villa of the German factory owner Paul Steinbock (from Frankfurt / Oder) have been preserved as ruins to this day and have been listed for several years. Until 1858 there was a paper mill with a water wheel. In 1861 the “Open Trading Company Paul Steinbock, Papier- u. Zellulosefabrik A.-G. ”founded. In 1914 the factory received a new steam engine from Esslingen. In 1938 the factory employed around 500 people. The production was around 50 tons of paper and 35 tons of pulp per day. The new cellulose factory ran on brown coal. In 1899 a street was opened and in 1907 the route of the Weststernberger Kreiskleinbahn via Steinbockwerk was opened. From 1945 the site belonged to a Polish state-owned grain company; today it is private. There is a canoe and kayak station in front of the ruins of the former manufacturer's villa.
