The monument of the 152nd Infantry Regiment at Hartmannswillerkopf (Vosges, Haut-Rhin) is the work of sculptor Victor-Charles Antoine (1881-1959), who participated in combat in this unit during the First World War.

After violent but victorious battles at Spitzemberg and Steinbach, the regiment joined in March 1915 at Vieil-Armand. He made himself famous there by seizing the summit at the cost of enormous losses, and was, therefore, nicknamed the "Devil's" regiment and its soldiers the "Red Devils".

Victor-Charles Antoine decided in 1919 to build a monument in homage to his comrades on the site of the battle. A path was laid out there to transport the materials necessary for the construction. Assisted by twenty-five hairy men, he had a hole filled between two large rocks in order to form a base large enough to fix the bronze to. The monument was inaugurated in 1921. Damaged by the Germans during the Second World War, some vestiges were however saved and allowed the sculptor to restore it in 1954.

Located at the foot of the Aussichtsfelsen (Helle rock), which offers a wide view of the entire plain of Alsace, the work consists of a group of five soldiers giving the assault, bayonets in their barrels and grenades in their hands. . The monument salutes the heroism of the soldiers by freezing their departure into battle. At the bottom of the sculpted group are three bronze plaques. On the left, one can read: "City of Munster 1914-1915 Hartmannswillerkopf", on that of the center with devils rushing to the attack: "Aux vaillants du fifteen-deux tombes en Alsace", and on that of right: “Steinbach 1914-1915 Metzeral”.
