If you follow the riverside path and the Fischerweg, you come to the fishing Stechlinsee. There are perch, tench, pike or vendace with potatoes or salad. The operator comes from a fishing family in the seventh generation. In good weather you can sit outside and look out over the lake. A good place for a break.

The Great Stechlinsee is one of the last large clear water lakes in northern Germany and at the same time the deepest lake in East Germany. The natural landscape around the Stechlinsee was shaped mainly by the last ice age. Today, natural waters, bogs and bog forests combine to form a diverse landscape. Because of its natural wealth and its cultural importance, Stechlin and its surroundings were declared a nature reserve in 1938. Theodor Fontane's travelogues and his novel "Der Stechlin" attract even today many visitors to the Mark Brandenburg.
We also came here curious and were not disappointed. The descriptions keep what they promise. A clear recommendation.

Große Stechlinsee is definitely worth a detour during the tour, but also as a tour destination. Top location and the walk around the lake is doable! It's worth it!
