The camp clock was built in 1912 on Finnische Allee, at the intersection of Helgolandstrasse. Damaged in the war, it was dismantled in 1947. The former Lohmühlen owner Peter Kahlwehld stored the clockwork and the rest was scrapped.

In 1983, discussion began in the community about rebuilding the warehouse clock, which was over three meters high. The SPD community representative at the time, Walter Rudolf, took care of spare parts, and master watchmaker Berthold Sperber repaired the clockwork. The work was then stored in the Hohenlockstedt town hall for a few years. It was not until 1994 that the CDU applied for the clock to be installed. But planning, the search for a new location and the construction work dragged on until 1998. Ascension Day of the year, the old camp clock was officially inaugurated with a large supporting program.
