Nelder Grove is a truly unique place: Along a nice selection of easy to moderate hiking trails, you will visit the largest concentration of giant sequoia trees within the Sierra National Forest. There are 54 mature trees like Bull Buck. There are also pioneer cabins and old giant sequioa stumps to explore in this area.

The area was named for John A. Nelder who came to California during the California Gold Rush in 1849 and built a cabin close to the grove's largest tree. Unfortunately, the cabin burnt down in a fire with Nelder inside.
