    One of the most beautiful churches in Lombardy, the Chiaravalle Abbey is a Cistercian monastic complex located in the South Milan Agricultural Park. Founded in the 12th century by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, it was consecrated in 1221 and has a Romanesque and Gothic architectural style. Particularly known is the bell tower called Ciribiciaccola, in which there is an ancient bell still rung by hand by the monks today.

      One of the main centers of Cistercian spirituality in Italy, it deserves a visit for its religious and architectural importance. To admire the splendid Gothic tower, called Ciribiciaccola, inside which is the bell from the mid-fifteenth century which still rings the tolls of the liturgy of the hours. The recently renovated water mill is very interesting, still able to grind cereals thanks to the water of a canal that passes from the Abbey.

                            Beautiful Cistercian abbey, with a cloister that can be visited. The atmosphere is really monastic and the buildings are well maintained and restored. At the moment (August 2022) the main bell tower is closed by scaffolding for restoration.

                              The Abbey of Chiaravalle Milanese, founded by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in 1135, is one of the most important Italian monastic complexes, located in Milan within the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano.
                              Still populated today by the traditional Cistercian monastic community, it is a place of considerable spiritual value and a significant center from a historical, artistic and cultural point of view. The complex represents a tourist destination of the highest quality, whose value has been significantly increased in recent years thanks to restoration and enhancement interventions.

                              Organized according to the principles of the Rule of Saint Benedict of Norcia, the monastic community has played a fundamental role over the centuries in the reclamation and reorganization of the territory south of Milan, laying the foundations for the economic and agricultural flourishing that still today makes the Milanese countryside one of the richest in Europe.
