The Hollener mill in Hollnseth

Water mills existed long before the advent of windmills.

The watermill Hollen is already mentioned in the 17th century.

It was moved in the middle of the 18th century to the current location on Hollener dike. From 1888 to 1920 there was also a wind mill belonging to the watermill.

In 1801 the watermill was rebuilt with an undershot drive. "Submissive" means that the water seizes the mill wheel below and drives it around to the left. This drive is used when there is insufficient incline. Milled was grain. The grinding operation is silent since 1940. The mill is used as a museum mill and can be visited.

The mill technology is fully functional.

The Hollen Mill, a listed former water mill, is located in Hollnseth, in the district of Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony.
