    The Gerzkopf is a 1,728 meter high peak in the Salzburg Slate Alps. It is a foothill of the Dachstein massif and an excellent panoramic mountain with far-reaching views of the Dachstein, Gosaukamm and Tennengebirge.

          The Gerzkopf is 1728 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Fritztal mountains in the state of Salzburg. It is a soft-topped foothill of the Dachstein massif, wooded up to the summit. In terms of the mountain range, the Gerzkopf massif is counted among the Fritztal Mountains and the Salzburg Slate Alps, because it forms a middle mountainous break between the limestone Alps of the Dachstein and Tennengebirge, which opens up like a window to the Salzburg Pre-Alps.
          From the Gerzkopf you have a good view of the south face of the Dachstein and the Bischofsmütze, the southern flank of the Tennengebirge, and also the main Alpine ridge of the eastern Hohe and western Niederen Tauern in the south.
          There is a very rare high moor around the summit, which is particularly protected as the Gerzkopf European Protected Area.
          Shortly before the protection area is the shepherd's hut, which is managed over the summer. From this hut around 400 sheep are supervised, which stay in the vicinity of the summit until the departure on Rupert's Day. At the top there is a large bell that was originally intended for calling the sheep together.
