There are many myths about the large boulder made of reddish Scandinavian granite. The three noticeable depressions on its surface are said to be traces of a witch's spinning wheel. Or were they even containers for liquid offerings? The capstone of the Bargloyer Steinkiste is said to have similar notches.
A dowsing examination revealed a high concentration of energy. Allegedly also the reason why so many different herbs grow around the boulder. The assumption that this is the place where wise women made remedies at the time does not seem so completely absurd.
