De Blauwe Reiger marina (BRYAC or in full Blauwe Reiger Yacht Club) and "De Waterkant" are located on the Beverlo canal in the hamlet of Kerkhoven. It is located on the canal and on the road from Leopoldsburg to Lommel. Kerkhoven is the southernmost parish of Lommel, but is special geographically: it extends over three municipalities and two provinces. During this period, the marina and moored boats are relatively quiet, even though some of the catering establishments remain open and are visited by walkers and especially cyclists who like to ride along the towpath. In the summer it can be very busy here and many hikers, visitors or passers-by from the region come here for a trip, an ice cream, a snack and a drink or just to look at the boats. We came here occasionally when we were driving home from some excursion near Lommel with the children when they were still small. This is also a fun place for children with the boats. Some walks also start from the marina and there is seating. The underlying bridge (with a lot of wood) and the proximity of many nature reserves (you are here in Bosland) are all extras, as are the many and of course quite tame water birds that invariably reside here. In Kerkhoven itself there is a street art walk (for enthusiasts; part of it can be found at the marina) and then of course there are many walking options around the water. You can also visit the old dendrological garden Den Tip, which has been owned by Natuurpunt since 2008 and where the latter have provided a path (there are still some things happening). And those who want to go further can go to nearby nature reserves such as Resterheide or De Most with sandy areas and forests in between, although unfortunately sometimes with many holiday homes in the beginning.
