Cycle path Überetsch: Bozen - Eppan - Kaltern
The cycle route connects the city of Bozen with the wine-growing region between Eppan and Kaltern and with the Kalterer See.
From Bolzano, the route leads south along the Eisack to the Merano - Eppan junction. Here the path of the Adige follows a few km to the north, then it goes to Eppan / Kaltern over a truss bridge. Here, under Sigmundskron Castle, the path begins to climb slightly: the Überetscher Bahn used to run here. The bike path winds up through the wine country between Girlan and Frangart, crosses a few tunnels and finally, after an underpass, reaches St. Michael.
From the former St. Michael / Eppan train station, continue southwards, the path runs parallel to the road to the Kreuzweg settlement. The routes separate here: If you want to go to Lake Kaltern, follow the signs for the "Cycle Route to Auer", but if you want to go to the village of Kaltern, follow these signs (also "Überetscher Walking Path"). The route to Lake Kaltern is not a pure cycle path; residents and farmers are allowed to drive and drive on the route - so be careful. The way to Kaltern is also used by walkers, so be considerate!
