Saint Roch is the patron saint against the plague. The pilgrimage to Saint Roch takes place on the Sunday after August 16th. On that day, Mass is celebrated outdoors. The organ can be adjusted using soundboards, allowing its sound to reach the outside as well.
Goethe donated a painting of Saint Roch to the chapel. Unfortunately, the entire chapel burned down in 1889 after being struck by lightning. The current building was reconstructed by cathedral architect Max Meckel between 1893 and 1895. The architectural style is Neo-Gothic.

The beautiful Rochuskapelle in the middle of the Rochusberg can already be seen from afar and in the evening is beautifully set in scene by means of Dirvers headlights. The adjacent, small park invites you to go for a walk or stay. At the end of the park there is still a great viewpoint with a wide view of the Rhine Valley.
