The pit Pattberg was from 1927 to 1993 in operation. It was one of the most efficient mines on the Lower Rhine, since the coal stored here regularly and flat.
The former coal mixing hall has been part of the energy turnaround since 2008: Riedel Recycling GmbH operates a photovoltaic system with 9,500 m² and a rated output of 837 kWp on the roof. This is one of the largest facilities in Germany and is sufficient to cover the electricity needs of 170 private households.

From here it goes directly to the Pattberg dump. The mining settlement Repelen is located directly behind Verbandsstr. From here I like to drive through Kohlenhuck towards Rheinberg or Kamp-Lintfort. A detour to the heap is a must.
