Perhaps THE natural monument of Ibbenbüren. Amazing rock formation that (according to legend) depicts a petrified woman trying to save her child from a flood on her shoulders. The rocks are easy to climb for experienced climbers with sensible shoes, but inexperienced climbers should stay below.

A great destination for families with children. From the campsite, follow the signs for "Hockendes Weib" and you'll quickly reach the cliffs. Older children can climb there.

The around four kilometers long and around 150 meters high sandstone rock formations along the south-west slope of the Teutoburg Forest form the Dörenther cliffs. From up here you have a fabulously wide view of the Münsterland. The strikingly shaped rocks, the "Dreikaiserstuhl" and the "Squatting Woman", which is said to have a tragic legend, are particularly well known.

Who wanders the Hermannsweg comes necessarily on the squatting woman and the Dörenther cliffs over. For all others: Drive to the B219, there is south of a small chapel a trail parking lot, from there on the Hermannsweg past a campsite, from there you can decide whether you the "easy" way (supposedly wheelchair suitable, I have not checked) or take the "heavy road" up to the squatting woman and the cliffs.
