      The abbey of San Pietro al Monte is an architectural complex of Romanesque style, located in the Oro valley in the municipality of Civate in the province of Lecco. The place, which is currently no longer occupied by religious, consists of three buildings: the basilica of San Pietro, the oratory dedicated to St. Benedict and what was the monastery of which only ruins remain. It is a wonderful church, rich in architectural and artistic content of great value.

          At the moment it can be visited inside by reservation only, but the area remains accessible.
          You can enjoy the beautiful landscape and peace early in the morning, subsequently being a destination within everyone's reach, it can be a little crowded.
          The path to get there is constant but not too steep, the pavement is made up of agglomerates of stones, which are slippery downhill, be careful.
          If you use sticks I recommend using rubber tips.

              Visiting days and times:

              a) From Tuesday to Friday: opening by appointment only from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm and it is possible to request a guided tour.

              free opening and without reservation (except for groups that must always book).
              Reservations are always required for guided tours.

              c) Sunday and public holidays (excluding Christmas, New Year, Easter, All Saints): free opening from 10am to 12.00pm and from 1.30pm to 4.00pm with the possibility of a guided tour without additional costs.
