It is possible to ride the paved road over Fern Pass but there is heavy traffic and no real shoulder for bicycles. An alternate single track route over the pass is very steep and very difficult for loaded bikes although we have met touring folks who have done it (They were very young!) We took the easy way and paid for the shuttle from the north side of the pass in Lermoos. Look for shuttle sign on the right side of the road as you ride the main street through Lermoos.

On the way to the Fernpass there was a nice view, but unfortunately my focus was on the gravel road to the Fernpass.
