Katzenzungen Castle is idyllically situated on a hill near Prissian. The property was first mentioned in writing in 1244. The largest (300 m²) and, at 350 years old, probably oldest vine in Europe grows beneath Katzenzungen Castle. The white grapes are used to make the wine "Versoaln" in the Laimburg in Auer. Around 500 numbered bottles are produced every year.

Unfortunately, Katzenzungen Castle is not open for sightseeing. However, there are always events taking place there, some of which are then public.

Katzenzungen Castle has been privately owned by the Pobitzer family since 1978. The dilapidated building at that time was restored with a lot of effort and now serves as an exclusive event location for social events. Its interior has been adapted accordingly for this purpose. You won't find any historical legacies there.

However, there is a striking relic on the grounds - a more than 350-year-old vine, the Versoaln vine, from whose fruits about 500 bottles of white wine are made annually and sold as numbered individual products.
