The Cranzahl dam was one of the two major dam projects in the GDR and was then called the dam of friendship. Bathing in it is not allowed, but the circular route is very beautiful. The dam supplies Annaberg-Buchholz and the surrounding area with drinking water.

We start the tour at Cranzahl train station and take the train to Kretscham Rothensehma. There it goes over the road towards Dam Cranzahl. In the forest, take the branching Feuerturmweg and climb the Bärenstein. There good food. Descend over the beautiful view and over the dam back to the train station Cranzahl. Perfect tour.

The blue pearl on the Bärenstein is located in an idyllic forest area. There are various cycling and hiking trails, including a beautiful circular route around the dam. As with any drinking water reservoir, swimming and water sports are not permitted in the TS Cranzahl.
