1909 Construction of an airship hangar (135 x 25 m, 25 m high, rotatable, a world first) - flights of the 118 m long and 13.2 m diameter Siemens-Schuckert airships developed here from January 23, 1911 to April 18. 1912
1918 Completion of Friedrichsfelde Airport on an area of 150 hectares, used until the end of World War I.
1920 Dismantling as a result of the Versailles Treaty - six hangars covered by cupolas have survived to this day.

The construction of the airfield began in 1909 with a rotating airship hangar, which was unique at the time. Later airplanes were assembled. After the First World War, the security police were stationed there. In addition, a squadron for the East Border Guard was set up in Karlshorst.
