The Passat is a four-masted steel barque, one of the legendary Blohm & Voss Flying P-Liners. The "flying" stands for the outstanding speed of 18 knots, which the PASSAT with 4,600 sqm sail area on its up to 56 meter high masts achieved under favorable conditions. She must have been a feast for the eyes. I have seen the sister ship the Kruzenshtern under sail with admiration and the Passat must have looked something like that
