The glider airfield of the Flugsportverein Friesener Warte is on the plateau and you can watch gliders take off or land from time to time.
The opening scenes of the very successful two-part feature film “Hindenburg” (2011) were shot up here.
On nice days you have a really impressive view of the Franconian Switzerland, the Steigerwald, the Obermaintal and even the Rhön.
In summer, protected plants such as purple pasque flowers, delicate blue flax, wild thyme and smaller orchids bloom on the dry, poor meadow.
