Hardiek's mill in Oesterweg is considered the oldest water mill in Versmold. Idyllically situated with the Bauerngarten and Mahlteich, the historic estate may be considered one of the most beautiful places on the Austrian way. Local historians found that the facility was mentioned in the early 16th century. In Ravensberger Urbar of 1556, the mill at Bruchbach is called expired. In 1602 the master bought the Oesterweger mill on Stockheim. In the 19th century, she then moved to private ownership. In 1860, a tragic accident occurred here that is still unforgotten today: the heavily laden grain of the house broke in two. The grain poured into the nursery below and stifled the six-year-old son of the miller's family. In the 20th century, the well-known landscape and native painter Wilhelm Raabe lived and worked here, whose expressive work has impressed to this day.
