This installation can be found in the middle of the city, where Mühlenstrasse and Lange Strasse meet.
So far, not much more can be said about it, except that it is a monument in memory of escape, expulsion and deportation. We commemorate (with reservations, as no source has been found) both those displaced from their homes who sought safety and a new life in this region from the former German eastern territories - but also those who were persecuted by the Wehrmacht, SS and other institutions of the so-called 3rd Reich were deported to the Emsland camps. People from Russia and other countries who attacked the Germans in their madness. The installation in this square (presumably) symbolizes the meeting of the two refugee groups after the end of the war: one, released and left to fend for itself on the way home to an uncertain fate, the other in search of a new home.
