The middle cross is complete, but only the shaft of the other two remains. Stone crosses were erected in the late Middle Ages for people who died suddenly and unprepared (without a final unction). The majority of these stone crosses are former murder and atonement crosses that were erected in memory of a person who was killed or had an accident. All three stones are made of sandstone. A tannery iron is incised on the back of two stones, while a blade from a stabbing weapon can be seen on the third cross. In the head part of the completely preserved cross, a simple representation of a bell with a clapper can be seen. A legend about the stones reports that a bell founder from Stolberg killed his journeyman here because he succeeded in casting the bell better than himself.
