The direct predecessor of today's Christ Church was a modest building that has been worked on since 1692 under the direction of Pastor Georgius Jaster from Dargitz. Between the remains of the ancient church, which was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, the service had to be held for a long time in the open air or in the neighboring Krug near the Uecker. A walnut tree sprouted in the chancel. The new building could only be completed 16 years later. The enlargement of the official village and the increase in the population created the conditions for the construction of a larger church in the 19th century. The later Christ Church was built almost on the site of its predecessor from 1708. In 1882, construction began. It was to be a complete brick building with a bell tower in the "Gothic style".

The Christ Church was built at the time when Torgelow was developing into an iron foundry location.

The neo-Gothic brick building was erected between 1882 and 1884 in place of the wooden church that burned down during the Thirty Years' War. A sandstone part of a baptismal font (1624) still reminds us of it.
