In the summer months Å lives mainly from tourism. Of course, the two local museums make an important contribution to the depiction of coastal culture in Lofoten. But Å is not a pure museum village. At the time of fishing, the Tørrfisk racks hang full of fish. The main customer is B. Larsen A / S from Sørvågen, for whom Å is the most important drying place. In addition, Brøderne Arntzen A / S from Sørvågen owns a dry fish storage on the other side of the harbor from the Tørrfisk museum. Until two generations ago, the entire village belonged to the 'fish king' Ellingsen, whose grandson usually lives in Å only in the summer months, otherwise mainly in Oslo. Most of the site, including the freshwater lake, belongs to the Johan B. Larsen family and their offspring. On the spot, as much old things as possible have been preserved and so much new tourism created as necessary to get paying guests to the place.
