The oldest documentary mention of Schönfließ dates back to 1270. The place was probably founded under the aegis of the Ascanians before and developed as a typical Angerdorf with a church in the center.
1735-1810, the lands were owned by the Prussian Major General and Chief of the Gens d 'Armes Wolf of Pannewitz (1679-1750) and his heirs, which significantly reshaped the property. The estate received a solid country house and several outbuildings and a planned according to French pattern Gutspark with pleasure house and waterfall. However, village, church and estate suffered in the Seven Years' War after the battle of Kunersdorf lost by the Prussian troops in 1760 under the looting and destruction by Russian soldiers.
In the 19th century, Schönfließ was owned by the von Veltheim family, whose first representative was Franz Wilhelm Werner von Veltheim (1785-1839), lord of Ostrava, Kösseln and Groß-Weissand. However, the most famous scion of the family was his nephew, chamberlain, master of ceremonies and castle captain of castle Wusterhausen, Werner Freiherr von Veltheim (1843-1919). Under the aegis of the Veltheim family, a stately castle was built instead of the country house, the park was embellished, the church renovated and expanded. Above all, agriculture has been intensified - Schönfließer products, especially fresh vegetables, are being delivered to the German capital Berlin. Only the National Socialist era and the Second World War ended the slow blossoming of the place. In May 1945, the last members of the family of Veltheim are killed, expelled or expropriated. Last man of Schönfließ was Burghard von Veltheim, who was imprisoned in 1945 in Sachsenhausen, where he died in 1951. The land ownership was divided among new farmers.
