Important borders have always clashed here, even if only two territories were real countries. Their abbreviations can be read on the large stone with the '134': 'Kr. Hvr. ' (Kingdom of Hanover) and 'Kf. Hsn. ' (Electorate of Hesse).

The same countries are marked by another landmark with coats of arms: on the Hanover side it shows the Welfenross, on the Hessian side the Schaumburger nettle leaf. The county of Schaumburg was then (around 1820) a part of the state of Hesse.

The third historical stone with the weathered '52' stands on the municipal boundary between Bad Münder and Hameln, both of which formerly belonged to the Kingdom of Hanover. The municipality of Hessisch Oldendorf is located in the former Electorate of Hesse. This 'border triangle' of municipalities is marked by the angular, modern boundary stone.

The large boundary stone '134' is the last of a series from here to the Hohenstein. They were set in 1831 and were valid until 1866 when Prussia annexed Hanover and Hesse.
