The chateau was built in 1815-1819 in classical style according to the plans of Mihály Pollack of the Festetics family. It stands and listed and is located in a 25-acre, protected English park. The castle has been partially renovated and has been reopened to visitors since 2008. During the season, the castle arranges concerts, exhibitions and various events.
