Convict lake is a crystal clear alpine lake formed by a glacial moraine at the mouth of Convict Creek valley high above the Long Valley Caldera a couple of miles south of Mammoth Lakes ski resort, surrounded by snow-capped Mono Jim Peak, Laurel Mountain and neighboring Sierra Nevada ranges reflecting in it's usually mirror-smooth surface.
