Legend has it that a knight at Haus Heisingen in 1350 communicated with an Italian named Bardelli, who, like the famous Count Cagliostro, claimed to be able to produce gold with the help of chemistry. However, since he could not provide practical proof of his claim, the Knight of Heisingen had him incarcerated as a punishment in a niche of the Knights' Hall. About 500 years later, a human skeleton was actually found during construction work on Haus Heisingen.
