Havelberg is a wonderful day destination. The old town of the Hanseatic city is on an island, which is cool in itself. Havelberg is quite small, so the range of accommodation is available but manageable. Unfortunately, Havelberg no longer has a train station. If you don't want to spend the night here, you can take the bus to Glöwen in Brandenburg, Schönhausen (Elbe), Tangermünde or Stendal, which are connected to the rail network. Of course you can also cycle there.
