    Directly on top of the Schatzenstein is dense forest and therefore the view into the distance is hardly possible. But a bit below towards the TV tower there is a small rock from which you have a good view at least in one direction.

          The Schatzenstein is a 760.4 m high mountain in the Ore Mountains.
          The Schatzenstein is located immediately north-west of the town of Elterlein on the municipal boundaries of Zwönitz and Grünhain-Beierfeld in the Grünhainer Forest. The Schatzenstein area is a popular hiking destination with several phyllite cliffs up to ten meters high. Due to the dense forest, however, there is hardly any visibility.
          At the highest point of the Schatzenstein there is a pillar of the Royal Saxon Triangulation and a commemorative plaque for the dialect poet Max Schreyer, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the creation of his well-known song Dar Vuglbärbaam, is embedded in the rock. Between 1887 and 1893 Max Schreyer was head forester of this district.
