The Versmolder Bruch is a nature reserve with a size of 244 ha, which is located in the area of the city of Versmold (Gütersloh district). It is number GT-020, is the county's third largest wetland reserve and is fully owned by the public.
The designation as a nature reserve on 20 September 1990 was for the preservation of communities and sites of wild plant and animal species, especially endangered wading and meadow birds, plant communities of wet grassland and Blänke.
For this purpose, bodies of water were newly created and land was again wet. Farmers use the land extensively and have to follow certain rules of proof, mowing and fertilization.
For the first time a stork couple will reside here from this year on. The female can be well observed from the observation deck while breeding.
