      I agree with the previous comment: The section from Es Verger to Portillo is not recommended. It is a steep scree field and the climb is dangerous.

        On 3/16/23 we did the ascent from Fornalutx. Just passed a storm, therefore walking path full of fallen trees. The descent to Es Verges was particularly dangerous due to loose stones and fallen boulders. It is best to first check whether the hiking trails are accessible again.

                  The hiking trail is partially covered by landslides, and there are some very steep sections that can be overcome with a little climbing. Turning back is no longer an option at this point if you started the hike from the gorge. (Approx. 3-4 hours return journey) An alternative option would be to hike to the reservoir and from there take a taxi/bus back to Fontailux. We made the descent anyway and the views make up for the effort.
