The building and the grounds are typical examples of the so-called "courtyards", which were built in the 16th century in the style of the Weser Renaissance. The Freihof served as a representative residence and also contains some Nebengebäude.Der still well-preserved Landsberg'sche Hof represents a particularly impressive example of the Stadthäger Renaissance architecture dar. To the main building borders a barn in the south, which now the city archives houses. Due to the generous landscaped garden, a longer path leads directly towards the main building with its dominating outside staircase.

Friedr. von Landsberg renewed in 1731 (coat of arms above the portal and on the back). The building now houses the extensive, 100-year-old city library. The city archive is located in the former barn from 1600.
