This type of locomotive was stationed in the former Treuchtlingen depot and mainly drove on the Frankfurt-Munich route and beyond. For the 100th birthday of the Treuchtlinger Bahnhof, the monument locomotive was set up here by the Deutsche Bundesbahn.

Express train locomotive 01 220. Is a steam locomotive. It belonged to the class 01 of the German Reichsbahn and was built in 1937 by the company Henschel and Son. In 1957 the locomotive received a new boiler and Witte smoke deflectors. In 1968 it was shut down after 4.5 million km. For the 100th anniversary of the Treuchtlingen train station in 1969, the train was made available to the city of Treuchtlingen and since then it has been in the park near the Altmühltherme.

Treuchtlingens was once a railway junction and to commemorate this the express train locomotive was made available to the city of Treuchtlingen as a memorial. This locomotive of the 01 series, built in 1937, was installed in 1969 on the anniversary of "100 years Treuchtlingen train station" after a mileage of approx. 4.5 million kilometers in the park on the promenade. A beautifully restored specimen, a real eye-catcher.
