The view from "The Pinnacle" is breathtaking, no matter which path you take. From there you can also see Halls Gap and Lake Bellfield. There are many unusual rock formations up close for which the Grampians (or Gariwerd, as the region is called in the Aboriginal language) are so well known.
There are different walks with different difficulty levels to the pinnacles. From the road, the road looks enervatingly high and difficult. But that is not so and every effort is rewarded with the prospect.
The easiest route to "The Pinnacle" starts at the Sundial Carpark in the National Park and goes via Devils Gap to the Pinnacles. This is the best route if you are traveling with small children or insecure hikers. The 4.2 km round trip requires according to Parks Victoria about 1 ½ hours. There are a few waters to cross and it goes over rocks, so that sturdy footwear is required.
A little more challenging is the Walk, which starts at Wonderland Carpark and climbs over the impressive Grand Canyon. Although not similar to its namesake in the US, it is similarly impressive, though much smaller, by the typical Australian rock formations. The Walk continues through Silent Street before rising to "The Pinnacles".
For the more adventurous, we recommend starting from the foot of the mountains at Halls Gap Caravan Park. According to Parks Victoria, this extended walk takes about 5 hours and only seasoned Bushwalkers should expect it.
All of these tours feature varied rock formations and rich vegetation that recovers with fresh green from the last bushfires. In spring there is a rich selection of wildflowers to see. Due to the abundance of wildlife in the park, there are good chances to encounter koalas, kangaroos, snakes, lizards and perhaps even Echnidas on the Walks.
