From 1831 to 1912, this building housed the school and the teacher's apartment, which makes the building a socio-historical monument. After another new school building was built, the teacher's apartment was retained here after 1912 and both classrooms on the northern ground floor and first floor continued to be used as classrooms. The "schoolhouse" or "sacristan's house" was built in 1617 and was the schoolhouse and residence of the sacristan, who was also the schoolmaster, until the beginning of the 19th century. The school rooms were housed in the house. Still referred to as "Schullehaus" in 1886. Beautiful, stately half-timbered building from the 17th century (a building invoice from 1638 is available), heightened with half-timbered gable in 1918. A judge in Schwand was first mentioned as early as 1375; the lower and higher jurisdiction was in place until 1806. For the period from 1632 (after the town was destroyed by Wallenstein's troops) to 1652, the judge temporarily held office in the rectory because of the war damage.
