Nice route, the climb from Castel San Pietro towards Alpe di Caivano is steep, on a cobbled road with bumpy sections, difficult without an EMTB. The descent is steep and could be risky due to the potholes. From Alpe di Caivano it is better to go through Generoso to Osteria La Peonia and then go down to Mendrisio.

Alpe Caviano is located at an altitude of 970 m on the south side of the massif of Monte Generoso. District of Castel San Pietro and Mendrisio.
From here a wonderful view on the Milan's city, the Po Valley, Monviso Peak on the border with France and the whole of the Monte Rosa massif. As well as many other high peaks in Valais.
The hut is provided to bed places (booking suggested in the high season).
