Old City Harbor
... a place steeped in history, but anything but "old"!
I have been actively following the development of the "Old" City Harbor in Oldenburg (Oldb) over the past few years – both as a real estate agent and as a private individual. For about two years now, my walk along the Hunte River from the new residential quarter on the north bank to my office at Huntestraße 14a has been one of my favorite times of day – the maritime atmosphere along the Hunte is both calming and inspiring.

The project
The city of Oldenburg began construction work on the "Old City Harbor" in the first half of 2013. With the exception of a final section of the so-called harbor park, which has been under construction since April 2023, the areas north of the Hunte have been completed. Behind a first row of distinctive individual buildings (the so-called "pearls") and the now renovated former slaughterhouse buildings, the opportunity for attractive housing was created. But high-quality office workplaces and additional uses were also realized.
