The canals look like in the Netherlands and the buildings convey this impression. No wonder, since the city was built by many Dutch immigrants who were persecuted in their homeland in the 17th century because of their religion. Incidentally, the canals were all manually dug.

We stayed in a very nice hotel on an "island" between Treene and a narrow sluice, the Fürstenburggraben. Very beautiful!
