At the Kompeskopf viewpoint there is a shelter and a large rest area with tables and benches. You also have a wonderful view of Treis-Karden. Between the Moselle towns of Karden and Müden are the largest stocks of boxwood north of the Alps. The box tree hiking trail is part of the Moselle Adventure Route and was created with the support of the European Union.

Very nice vantage point with views over Karden, Treis, Tired and in the Hunsrück inside. Very nice and lovingly designed. Is constantly expanding and should be part of a new hiking trail. With children's playground.
From there you can continue the Buchsbaumweg (without box trees 😂) or head straight over the height at the edge of the forest of Eltz Castle.

Beautiful vantage point with tables and benches and a small hut where you can get a glass of wine (or two 😉) for donations. From a height of perhaps 230 m you have a magnificent view of the Moselle, Hunsrück and Eifel and the towns of Treis and Karden, which are connected by a bridge.
A small plaque is attached to a bench: "From time to time we must take a break and wait until our souls have caught up with us again."

From the head of the compass you can enjoy the view of the collegiate church in Karden, the Martberg (273m) and the Treis on the other side of the Moselle. The Castor Cave can be visited from here via a branch path. However, one leaves the actual main route and takes a descent over several meters in height, which then have to be climbed again later.

From the head of the compass you walk along the slope along the mountain plateau and then descend into the Krailstal. Here the boxwood forests stretch in rustic beauty. In the steep slopes of the Krailstals also wild juniper grows as a relic from a time in which the goat and sheep grazing of these steep slopes was still common and the juniper withstood the bite of the animals.
