In addition to the world's oldest salt mine and the idyllic, world-famous postcard view, the 12th-century Ossuary in Michael's Chapel - to the right of the Catholic Parish Church - is one of the most interesting sights in Hallstatt: Visitors from all over the world come to this extraordinary collection every year to admire over 600 artfully painted skulls. Some were painted at the end of the 18th century, but some are also from the 20th century.

Entry € 1.50 per person. Due to the Corona requirements, a maximum of 6 people are allowed in at the same time. We had to wait a few minutes during the week.

A beautiful place. You should definitely visit the ossuary. Because of Corona there wasn't so much going on either.
