    The Hindenburg Bridge spans the Weser. After the destruction in World War II, it was rebuilt as an arch bridge in 1946.

      The Hindenburg Bridge over the Weser in Rinteln was built in 1927 and after only 18 years of use in April 1945 blown up by German forces retreating and already in October 1946 again 'lifted out of the water' and completely restored. Today, it is a modern landmark in the Weser Renaissance city and enjoys great popularity as a photo opportunity. The immediate area is very attractive designed and for me a good 'take-off and landing place' for hiking.

          With the outbreak of the Thirty Years' War, the development of Rinteln, as in many other cities, experienced a painful kink. The old Weser bridge was destroyed and not rebuilt for a long time. After the Schaumburg counts died out in 1640, the county was divided.
          Rinteln then belonged to Hesse, which accelerated the city's decline.
          The absolute low point of the city was the dissolution of the university in 1809.
          Rinteln experienced a new upswing that continues to this day since 1847.
          The bridge over the Weser was rebuilt in 1847.
