        Nature: Most of the Sodenberg now belongs to the Rhön Nature Park; In the direction of Weickersgrüben there is the Spessart Nature Park. Rare plant species are native here, such as March cups, pasque flowers and the strictly protected Adonis florets (adonis vernalis), which transform the otherwise barren landscape into a sea of flowers in spring. The Sodenberg also offers a habitat for numerous breeding bird species, butterflies, grasshoppers and other animals.

          The entire Sodenberg (including the neighboring Gansberg/Tannenberg) is worth a trip all year round. Whether it's to see the rare Adonis rose and other flowers, the former basalt works (deep pit) with its ruins or simply a beautiful view or interesting cycling and hiking routes.

          Possible starting points are the quite remote Ochsenthal near Morlesau in the north, Obereschenbach on the B27 in the southeast and Weikersgrüben on the MSP17 in the west.

          For those from outside the area coming from the A7 Kassel-Würzburg:

          At Hammelburg (exit 97) go down to the west (this is the B287) past Hammelburg (this is the B27) another 5 km towards Karlstadt/Gemünden.

                    The Rhön Club memorial is located at the highest point of the Tannenberg. Here you can also register in a "summit book". In spring there is a natural spectacle of early bloomers on the surrounding plateau, beginning with the pasque flowers, a little later the cowslips / cowslips and as a special feature: the spring Adonis. In every season you have a wide view, especially to the peaks of the Hochrhön. While everything is full of flowers here in April, you can sometimes still see the snowy white Dammersfeld summit in the distance.
