At the top of the Großer Arber there are two mountain huts available for your rest at the summit: the traditional Arberschutzhaus and the cozy Eisensteiner Hütte. Mountain romance and delicious Bavarian specialties await you in both. You can also stay overnight in the Arberschutzhaus and enjoy the special sunrise on the Großer Arber the next morning.

The "Große Arber" with its 1,456 m is also called "The King of the Forest". From the summit cross, erected in 1913, the view extends far into the Bohemian Forest and Bavaria. On very clear days, even the peaks of the Bavarian Alps appear on the horizon, including the well-known “Watzmann”.
The first chairlift with individual wooden seats, completed in 1949, had a maximum transport capacity of 180 people per hour. Today the gondola lifts 11 to 12 times as much. Today it is the largest ski area in the Bavarian Forest. There is a 6-seater chairlift on the southern slope on which almost 40 snow cannons are permanently installed to ensure that the ski runs. The 964 m long gondola takes you to the mountain station 342 m higher in 4 minutes, and from there you can take a comfortable path to the summit. The Arber has several peaks, including the striking rock "Richard Wagner-Kopf".
