    Before the rerouting, the A115 motorway ran west of Dreilinden. At this point, the motorway turned south toward the Teltow Canal. In doing so, it crossed the Potsdam Main Railway line (i2030.de/suedwest/). The old railway bridge is still preserved and a popular hiking destination. Also clearly visible is the crash barrier, which was intended to protect the central bridge pier from collisions with trucks. As part of the planning for its reopening, the question of whether the bridge is still needed is being considered.

        The Berlin-Potsdam Railway was Prussia's first railway line, opened in 1838, hence its name, the "Stammbahn." The approximately 26-kilometer-long line ran directly from Potsdam Station at what is now Potsdamer Platz via Steglitz and Zehlendorf to what is now Potsdam Central Station. When German troops blew up the bridge over the Teltow Canal at the end of World War II in April 1945, traffic between Berlin-Zehlendorf and Potsdam-Griebnitzsee ended. An S-Bahn train ran from Zehlendorf to Berlin-Düppel from December 1945 onward. With the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, passengers from Kleinmachnow in Brandenburg disappeared, and the terminal station was located directly on the city border, which had become the system boundary. The West Berlin S-Bahn boycott did the rest. As a result of the S-Bahn strike in 1980, the Deutsche Reichsbahn (German Reichsbahn) ceased operations completely.
