The old town is separated from the younger district, El Mercadillo, which was built after the conquest by the Spaniards, by the over 80 m deep gorge El Tajo.

The abyss in the city center is overshadowed by the late 18th century Puente Nuevo ("New Bridge"). From Plaza María Auxiliadora, there is a dirt road leading down to the viewpoint, from where you can enjoy the famous view of Ronda with the Puente Nuevo.

Unfortunately, the so-called (and allegedly so helpful!) tip from MrIdea and also from Konny describes the large Puente Nuevo further up!! So don't get confused! The Puente Arabe is clearly the oldest and smallest bridge at the marked spot!! Also many photos are or were wrong!

The Puente Árabe (Arab Bridge) is one of the oldest bridges in the city of Ronda, located in Andalusia. Despite its name, it was not built by the Moors, but probably in the 16th century, on the remains of an earlier Moorish construction.

Located on the eastern side of the city, the bridge spans the Arroyo de las Culebras, a small gorge that provided access to the nearby ancient Arab baths (Baños Árabes). Historically, this was an important passageway for travelers and trade caravans entering the city.

The bridge itself is relatively modest compared to the imposing Puente Nuevo, but it possesses a historic charm. With its brick and stone arch, it offers a good glimpse into the medieval infrastructure that connected Ronda to the surrounding valleys.
