The Osaka Castle with the beautiful park area offers a relaxed balance to the concrete buildings of the city. Originating in the 15th century, Osaka Castle was built on the orders of General Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Osaka Castle is multi-storey, beautifully decorated and towers like a sentinel over the city's rooftops.

Stunning architecture, you can only marvel here when you stand in front of the building complex. The entire complex is built on a raised level, so you have a great view over the gardens and into the city.

One of the famous Japanese castles and a highlight of Osaka.
However, the current castle tower was only rebuilt in 1931 from reinforced concrete. In 1997 the facility was renovated. Around the castle tower, ancestral citadels, gates, watchtowers, impressive defensive walls and moats are arranged. The entire castle park covers about two square kilometers, an oasis in the city.

The Otemon Gate (Western Gate) is the ideal starting / ending point for visiting Osaka Castle. The nearest subway station is Tanimachi Yonchome Station (about 10 minutes walk to Otemon Gate).

The best view of the castle is left over from the "Osaka Museum of History"!
